Large protests erupted in New Delhi, India, after the Tuesday arrest of anti-corruption protester Anna Hazare. The 74-year-old is currently carrying on his protest fast in prison. There has been a crackdown on his followers, with thousands of them arrested. In anger at the government response to Hazare and the activists, there have been sit-ins, vigils and demonstrations with effigies burned in cities across India. Indians tired of corruption and mismanagement have fallen in behind the Gandhi-esque Hazare, and are accusing Prime Minister Manmohan Singh of incompetence and repression.
